Alighiero Boetti: i Colori

2014

The I Colori series - a radical departure from Alighiero Boetti's previous work - started with exctracts from an English phrasebook that amused him, followed by nomenclature of paint names used by the major car and motorcycle brands, to his use of dates as a witty summation of a person's identity. The slick, hard-edged, modern feel of these works reflects an urbanism and consumerism that dominated Italian society during that time.

This illustrated booklet, published on the occasion of the exhibtion held at Luxembourg & Dayan, London, in 2014, includes the first text to be written exclusively on this body of work, by Mario Codognato, a biography, a selected exhibition history, installation views, and colour images of each exhibited work.
