Jerzy "Jurry" Zielinski: Paintings, 1968 - 1977

2013

The sociopolitical conditions of communist Cold-War Poland would seem an unlikely source for the bold and colourful forms depicted in the paintings of Jerzy "Jurry" Zielinski. Yet, his uninflected flat touch, which combines the aesthetics of pop with a great graphic sense, disquises the wry wit and deeper concerns that undescore this challenging and revolutionary artist's work.

This illustrated catalogue, which accompanies the exhibition held at Luxembourg & Dayan, London, in 2013, includes an essay on Polish Pop by Alison M. Gingeras and Adam Szymczyck, and the Neo-Neo-Neo manifesto written by Zielinski and Jan "Dobson" Dobokowski.
